The Programme
The Orapuh Fellowship Programme (OFP) is a 1 academic year postgraduate experiential, research, professional, managerial, and leadership training programme. It is designed for early-career, talented, and committed individuals from under-resourced areas in oral and public health. The programme equips members to effectively engage in professional, scholarly, and leadership activities within resource-limited contexts.

Convener

The convener of the OFP is Orapuh, Inc., an international, independent oral and public health information, education, and research organisation incorporated in the Republic of The Gambia.

Orapuh’s mission is to provide swift access to information, education, and research for underserved populations in oral and public health. The organisation focuses on:

  • Improving access to health information

  • Strengthening oral and public health education and research

  • Catalysing health career skills

  • Promoting favourable health outcomes in resource-limited contexts

Orapuh operates from universities, colleges, hospitals, research institutions, and homes across Africa, Europe, North America, and Asia.

Programme duration

The OFP spans 1 academic year. Members are required to participate fully throughout the programme, as all fellowship activities are compulsory.

Delivery
The programme is delivered online, though some research, clinical, and other activities may take place offline.

Learning mode

  • Synchronous Mode: Regular virtual sessions or face-to-face interactions and routine real-time interactions within the OFP Class.

  • Asynchronous Mode: Offline weekly activities, engagements, and research tasks.

Fellowship Activities

The OFP involves weekly and monthly activities that are time-bound and mandatory. Members are responsible for planning, executing, and reporting their activities, ensuring timely submission as required.

Programme Financing

The programme does not provide stipends or charge tuition fees. However, members bear the costs of research and research communication (subsidised).

Membership of the OCS

Accepted candidates are designated as Members of the Orapuh College of Scholars (OCS) and may use the post-nominal letters MOCS. Upon successful completion of the programme, members are inducted as Fellows and transition to using FOCS after their name.

OCS is a postgraduate community of oral and public health professionals committed to advancing oral and public health scholarship.

Leadership

The Chief Fellow (CF) has primary leadership responsibility for coordinating fellowship activities and approving topics and presentations. Members are responsible for initiating mentorship interactions and coordinating their own activities under the Chief Fellow’s guidance.

All research outputs are published in the Orapuh journals.

Upon successful completion, members will receive (for a fee):

  • Postgraduate Fellowship Certificate

  • FOCS Certificate

  • PG Fellowship Transcript
