Courses
Dental Public Health (mMDPH)
Dental Public Health is a branch of dentistry that focuses on improving the oral health of populations rather than individuals. It involves assessing the oral health needs of communities, implementing programs and policies to address those needs, and evaluating the effectiveness of public health interventions. Dental public health professionals work on initiatives such as community water fluoridation, school-based dental sealant programs, oral health education campaigns, and efforts to reduce disparities in access to dental care. They collaborate with public health agencies, policymakers, community organizations, and dental professionals to promote oral health and prevent dental diseases on a large scale.

Community Oral Health (mMDPH-COH)
Community oral health refers to efforts aimed at improving the oral health of a specific community or population group. It involves various strategies and programmes designed to promote oral hygiene, prevent dental diseases, and ensure access to dental care within the community. Community oral health initiatives often include educational campaigns, preventive services such as dental screenings and fluoride treatments, and outreach programs to underserved populations.
These efforts may be implemented through partnerships between local health departments, community organisations, schools, dental professionals, and other stakeholders. The goal is to address the unique oral health needs and challenges faced by the community, reduce oral health disparities, and improve overall oral health outcomes for its residents.
