At Orapuh, we are committed to the principles of good governance as set out in the Charity Governance Code. While the Code is primarily designed for charities registered in England and Wales, it provides a universally applicable framework for strong and effective governance, which we have adapted to suit our context.

Our governance principles are outlined below:

1. Organisational Purpose
The Oversight and Academic Board (OAB) and BoD ensure that Orapuh’s mission and values are clearly defined, regularly reviewed, and effectively delivered. All strategic decisions are aligned with our charitable objectives and long-term sustainability.

2. Leadership
Orapuh is governed by a dynamic Oversight and Academic Board and Board of Directors that set the organisation’s strategic direction and support an inclusive culture of strong leadership. The OAB and BoD ensure clarity of roles and foster conditions for sound decision-making and performance by the Office of the President/CAO and Central Governance Office (CGO).

3. Integrity
We uphold the highest standards of integrity. The OAB and BoD promote a culture of honesty, respect, and ethical conduct in the organisation, ensuring that everything we do strengthens public trust and confidence in our work.

4. Decision-making, Risk, and Control
Our governance ensures robust, evidence-informed decision-making. The OAB and BoD manage risks and resources responsibly, with well-defined systems for delegation, internal control, and performance monitoring to protect the organisation and its stakeholders.

5. Board Effectiveness
The OAB and BoD operate as a highly effective team. We regularly review our performance, and members bring a balance of skills, experience, and perspectives, enabling sound and inclusive governance.

6. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
Orapuh values and champions equality, diversity, and inclusion. The OAB and BoD actively promote EDI principles in its composition, practices, and organisational culture, recognising that diverse perspectives strengthen governance and impact.

7. Openness and Accountability
We are committed to transparency and accountability. The OAB and BoD lead by example in being open about the work we do, how we make decisions, and how we use our resources, while respecting confidentiality where appropriate.

Commitment to Good Governance
By aligning with the Charity Governance Code, Orapuh ensures that our governance promotes integrity, effective leadership, inclusive decision-making, and meaningful accountability in all our activities.
