The Oraposium is a biweekly event platform of the Orapuh College of Scholars (OCS) designed for the presentation and discussion of scholarly and clinical oral and public health issues. It aims to foster professional development, catalyse meaningful discourse, and inform initiatives in oral and public health.

2. Schedule and Topic Selection

  • Oraposium sessions are held biweekly to encourage regular scholarly engagement.

  • A focus-area-relevant topic is selected in consultation with a mentor to ensure relevance to Orapuh’s mission.

  • The mentor-approved topic is submitted to the house for official consideration at least two weeks prior to the session.

3. Topic Approval and Preparation

  • The house reviews and approves the final topics, ensuring alignment with Orapuh’s academic and thematic priorities.

  • Presenters, with support from other members, create and promote the event flier.

  • The presentation is developed collaboratively between the presenter and their mentor to ensure accuracy, clarity, and scholarly integrity.

  • Presenters are required to submit their draft presentation to the house for preliminary review (pre-oraposium) at least 12 days before the scheduled session.

4. Presentation Preparation and Submission

  • Presenters incorporate feedback from the pre-oraposium and make required corrections within one day of receiving preliminary input.

  • The corrected version is submitted to the house for final vetting 11 days before the Oraposium.

  • This review ensures ample time for adjustments and quality assurance before the event.

5. Oraposium Event

  • Presenters deliver their session live, engaging participants in interactive discussions and Q&A segments.

  • Completed presentations are archived at acadrep.orapuh.org to facilitate future access and reference.

  • The video recording should be submitted to the registry unit, using the approved channel.

6. Post-Oraposium Activities

  • Presenters meet with the house to draft a position paper based on the content of their presentation, contributing to knowledge sharing and advocacy.

  • Presentation media and summaries are disseminated via Orapuh’s website, social media platforms, and other relevant repositories.

7. Next Oraposium Preparation

  • After each session, planning begins for the next, including new topic selection, presenter identification, and coordination of logistics.

8. Compliance and Evaluation

  • The Chief Fellow ensures compliance with the guidelines and timelines laid out in this policy.

  • Feedback mechanisms and evaluation processes are regularly conducted to assess the impact, quality, and relevance of the Oraposium.

The Oraposium is a key academic engagement tool of Orapuh, intended to advance dialogue, research, and action in oral and public health. This policy ensures that each session is conducted in a structured, high-quality, and impactful manner under the leadership and oversight of the Chief Fellow.
