At Orapuh, we are committed to the principles of good governance as set out in the Charity Governance Code. While the Code is primarily designed for charities registered in England and Wales, it provides a universally applicable framework for strong and effective governance, which we have adapted to suit our context.

Our governance principles are outlined below:

1. Organisational Purpose
The Governing Council (GC) and Academic & Quality Assurance Board (AQAB) ensure that Orapuh’s mission and values are clearly defined, regularly reviewed, and effectively delivered. All strategic decisions are aligned with our charitable and commercial objectives and long-term sustainability.

2. Leadership
Orapuh is governed by a dynamic GC and AQAB that set the organisation’s strategic direction and support an inclusive culture of strong leadership. The GC and AQAB ensure clarity of roles and foster conditions for sound decision-making and performance by the Office of the Director and Central Governance Office (CGO).

3. Integrity
We uphold the highest standards of integrity. The GC and AQAB promote a culture of honesty, respect, and ethical conduct in the organisation, ensuring that everything we do strengthens public trust and confidence in our work.

4. Decision-making, Risk, and Control
Our governance ensures robust, evidence-informed decision-making. The GC and AQAB manage risks and resources responsibly, with well-defined systems for delegation, internal control, and performance monitoring to protect the organisation and its stakeholders.

5. Board Effectiveness
The GC and AQAB operate as a highly effective team. We regularly review our performance, and members bring a balance of skills, experience, and perspectives, enabling sound and inclusive governance.

6. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
Orapuh values and champions equality, diversity, and inclusion. The GC and AQAB actively promote EDI principles in their composition, practices, and organisational culture, recognising that diverse perspectives strengthen governance and impact.

7. Openness and Accountability
We are committed to transparency and accountability. The GC and AQAB lead by example in being open about the work we do, how we make decisions, and how we use our resources, while respecting confidentiality where appropriate.

Commitment to Good Governance
By aligning with the Charity Governance Code, Orapuh ensures that our governance promotes integrity, effective leadership, inclusive decision-making, and meaningful accountability in all our activities.
