- Eligibility for Deferment
- Enroled students may apply for a deferment of their admission due to personal, medical, or other genuine reasons.
- All deferment requests are subject to approval by the Registry Team and must be authorised by the Registrar.
- Deferment Fee A student must pay the deferment fee ($24 – USD) to process the request.
The deferment fee is non-refundable.
- Application Process
- Students must submit a formal application for deferment to the Registry, stating the reason for the request and including any supporting documentation (e.g., medical certificates, personal statements).
- The application must be submitted within the designated period, typically before the start of the academic session, unless otherwise determined by the Registrar in cases of emergencies.
- Approval Procedure
- The Registry Team will review the deferment request and supporting documentation.
- If approved, the student will be notified, and their admission will be deferred to the next available academic session.
- The deferment will only take effect after the deferment fee has been paid.
- Duration of Deferment
- The deferment period is typically for one academic session (or the duration equivalent to the length of the programme’s next intake).
- Students may request a further extension of deferment, subject to approval and payment of an additional deferment fee.
- Conditions for Returning
- Students who defer must notify the school of their intention to resume studies at least one month before the start of the new academic session.
- The student’s programme and course requirements upon return may be subject to changes in the curriculum, and additional courses may be required if the programme has been revised.
- Restrictions
- Deferment is not permitted during the final month of study unless under exceptional circumstances.
- A student is allowed to defer only once per academic session. Further requests may require additional documentation and approval.
- Impact on Fees
- Any tuition fees already paid will be carried over to the new session but will not be refunded.
- Fee adjustments due to changes in the academic session or programme structure will apply upon resumption.
- Extenuating Circumstances
- In cases of severe hardship or unexpected circumstances (e.g., serious illness), a deferment fee waiver may be requested and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- Appeals
- Students may appeal the decision regarding their deferment request within five (5) working days of notification, following the standard appeals process of the school.
