1. Administrative Assistant (AA)

Role Summary:
Provides general clerical, record-keeping, and office support. Acts as the first point of contact for routine enquiries.

Appointment Criteria:

  • Minimum: National Diploma (ND) or equivalent in administration, finance, business, or related field.

  • Proficiency in office software (word processing, spreadsheets, email).

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

Promotion Criteria:

  • Minimum of 2 years satisfactory service.

  • Demonstrated reliability, accuracy, and teamwork.

  • Successful completion of in-house administrative skills training.


2. Administrative Officer (AO)

Role Summary:
Coordinates specific administrative functions, supports reporting, and supervises junior staff.

Appointment Criteria:

  • Minimum: Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s degree in administration, management, finance, or related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ prior administrative experience.

  • Competence in drafting official correspondence and preparing basic reports.

Promotion Criteria:

  • Minimum of 3 years satisfactory service as AA or equivalent.

  • Proven ability to handle complex administrative tasks independently.

  • Positive performance appraisals and recommendation from immediate supervisor.


3. Senior Administrative Officer (SAO)

Role Summary:
Manages a department or major functional area of the CGO. Oversees administrative procedures and ensures compliance with policies.

Appointment Criteria:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree is an advantage).

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant administrative experience, including supervisory duties.

  • Strong knowledge of institutional governance and regulatory requirements.

Promotion Criteria:

  • Minimum of 3 years satisfactory service as AO or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities.

  • Evidence of initiative in improving administrative processes.


4. Principal Administrative Officer (PAO)

Role Summary:
Acts as deputy to top CGO leadership. Oversees multiple units and coordinates inter-departmental operations.

Appointment Criteria:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree + professional certification in administration, governance, or finance (e.g., CIPM, ICAN, CIMA) preferred.

  • At least 7 years of progressive administrative experience.

  • Proven capacity to manage budgets, projects, and policy implementation.

Promotion Criteria:

  • Minimum of 3 years satisfactory service as SAO or equivalent.

  • Record of high-quality leadership, conflict resolution, and policy adherence.

  • Demonstrated ability to represent the CGO in high-level meetings.


5. Deputy Registrar / Deputy Director of Administration & Finance (DR/DD)

Role Summary:
Assists the Registrar/DAF in strategic management of CGO. Acts on behalf of the Registrar when necessary.

Appointment Criteria:

  • Minimum: Master’s degree in administration, governance, finance, or related discipline.

  • At least 10 years of progressive administrative experience, with at least 3 years in senior management.

  • Strong track record in institutional leadership and strategic planning.

Promotion Criteria:

  • Minimum of 3 years satisfactory service as PAO or equivalent.

  • Evidence of leading large-scale projects and policy reforms.

  • Endorsement from the Registrar/DAF and the governing board.


6. Registrar / Director of Administration & Finance (Registrar/DAF)

Role Summary:
Head of the CGO. Oversees all governance, administration, and financial management functions.

Appointment Criteria:

  • Minimum: Master’s degree (PhD is an advantage) in administration, governance, finance, or related field.

  • At least 12–15 years of extensive administrative and financial management experience.

  • Proven record of institutional governance leadership.

  • Appointment by the Governing Board based on merit, integrity, and vision.

Promotion Criteria:

  • This is the terminal position. Appointment is based on exceptional leadership record and strategic vision for the institution.
