Learners explore the structure, organisation, and business models of dental practices, with emphasis on establishing a new practice or strengthening the performance, efficiency, and sustainability of an existing dental business.

PC1-012: Fundamentals of Management (3 Credits)

This course introduces core management principles as applied to dental practice settings. Learners examine the planning, organisation, leadership, and control of key resources—human, financial, and material—to support effective decision-making and long-term practice success.

PC1-013: Processes, Artificial Intelligence, and Quality Improvement (3 Credits)

This course focuses on operational processes within dental practices and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance efficiency and service quality. Learners explore workflow design, standard operating procedures, process optimisation, and data-informed quality improvement strategies aimed at improving productivity, patient experience, and overall practice performance.

PC1-014: Factors of Production (3 Credits)

This course examines the application of economic factors of production—land, labour, capital, and entrepreneurship—within dental practice management. Learners develop skills in mobilising, allocating, and optimising resources to maximise efficiency, profitability, and sustainability while minimising waste and loss.

PC1-015: Practice Finance and Revolving Funds (3 Credits)

This course equips learners with practical financial management skills for dental practices. It covers funding mobilisation, cash flow management, revolving funds, reinvestment strategies, and financial controls necessary for business growth and operational resilience.

PC1-016: Branding, Markets, and Professional Values (2 Credits)

This course focuses on building and sustaining a strong dental practice brand. Learners explore marketing strategies, market positioning, customer engagement, and service diversification, while emphasising ethical practice, professional values, and compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.

PC1-017: CDPM Capstone (Practicum and Seminar) (6 Credits)

The capstone course integrates learning across the CDPM programme through applied fieldwork and/or a supervised seminar project. Learners demonstrate practical competence in dental practice management, with assessment based on the relevance, rigour, and quality of project outputs and presentations.
