About Orapuh School
History
Orapuh School, also known as École Orapuh, was established on February 12, 2020, by 2 renowned oral and public health scholars with years of experience teaching at universities across continents.
Evidence-based education
Drawing on the latest research, practice, and policy evidence, the school has developed a cutting-edge curricular that combine traditional and innovative components. These unique programmes are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to launch or enhance their careers or businesses in oral or public health.

Quality Assurance Policy
Orapuh School (École Orapuh) is a pioneering online, open, and distance learning research intensive platform dedicated to providing high-quality education in the often-overlooked fields of oral and public health at an affordable price point. The school is committed to delivering excellent services and ensuring maximum customer satisfaction for all stakeholders. To achieve this, the school adheres strictly to all statutory, regulatory, and implied standards laid down by key stakeholders, treating them as the bare minimum for operating the school.
In line with the expectations of stakeholders, the school continually seeks to improve the effectiveness of its Quality Assurance System (QAS) to ensure quality at all times. The President/CAO heads the QAS and oversees all activities of the system. The President considers feedback and input from other faculty members to establish the school’s Quality Objectives (QO) and reviews and revises them annually or as needed.
The school’s policy on Quality Assurance is communicated to all faculty through correspondence or periodic meetings. The President also reviews the school’s Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) regularly to incorporate feedback and meet the stakeholders’ preferences and needs.
Teaching philosophy
At this school, we focus on teaching, research, and mentoring of oral and public health students. Our faculties have been fortunate to receive guidance from professors of international pedigree, and they are aware that students have different learning paces. As such, they adapt their teaching styles to accommodate these differences. Our programme cover a broad range of topics, sometimes integrated with other disciplines, and our faculties have learned to pace their lectures accordingly. Our teaching methods involve activities, assignments, and other effective techniques to help students learn.
Our goal is to educate our students to synthesize and apply their knowledge to complex problems, understand and apply technology in innovative ways, and possess well-developed research, communication, and cultural sensitivity skills that align with contemporary health professional roles.
Legal Information
Orapuh School is Africa’s foremost online and open/distance learning (ODL) institution dedicated to dental and public health research. It is a constituent entity of Orapuh, Inc., a non-profit organisation registered in The Gambia (Registration No.: C10443).
While Orapuh School is not an accredited institution, its specialised programmes are designed to foster personal growth, professional development, and entrepreneurial competence. Our graduates are equipped to make meaningful contributions to improving access to health care, particularly in underserved and resource-limited settings.
Structure of programmes
Each programme is structured into weekly lectures (using the Flipped Classroom Model of Instruction) and activity components. Weekly academic webinars supplement learning.
Each programme has a practicum component, the capstone that summarizes the overall achievement in the programme.
Teaching resources
The programmes are offered entirely online. Students can access the PDF versions of lecture slides, audio and video recordings of lectures, video lessons, memory aids, and links to other important learning materials.

Curriculum Activities
Each curriculum is deployed through weekly lectures, reading, interactive activities, formative activities, and summative activities.
Requirements for progression and graduation
A student must:
a) Pass each course before progressing to the next. The pass mark for each course is 50%.
b) Take and pass all courses to be deemed to have completed the programme.
Assessment Criteria
Each course is assessed through formative and summative assessments. Formative assessments are not graded. Summative assessment for each assignment is graded over 100%. The pass mark for each course is 50%.
Externship and Internship
Orapuh School encourages students who are not yet professionally engaged in their field of study to proactively pursue externship and internship opportunities relevant to their academic programme, as a means of acquiring practical experience and enhancing their professional preparedness.
