1. Purpose

The purpose of this Whistleblower Policy is to provide a safe and confidential mechanism for employees, contractors, and other stakeholders to report any concerns about unethical or illegal activities occurring within Orapuh. This policy aims to encourage the reporting of concerns and protect individuals who disclose such concerns in good faith.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and other individuals associated with Orapuh, including those working on behalf of the organisation in any capacity.

3. Definition

A whistleblower is an individual who reports or discloses concerns regarding potential misconduct, unethical behaviour, or illegal activities within Orapuh. Such concerns may involve financial irregularities, fraud, corruption, harassment, discrimination, or other serious issues.

4. Reporting Mechanism

  • Phone: +220 938 7344 (WhatsApp)
  • Postal Mail: UMTG, PMB 405, Serrekunda, The Gambia

4.2 Anonymous Reporting

Individuals may report concerns anonymously. However, providing contact information can facilitate follow-up and ensure a thorough investigation.

5. Protection for Whistleblowers

5.1 Confidentiality

All reports will be handled confidentially to the extent possible. The identity of the whistleblower will be kept confidential, and information will be disclosed only to those involved in the investigation or as required by law.

5.2 Non-Retaliation

Orapuh prohibits retaliation against any individual who reports concerns in good faith or cooperates with an investigation. Retaliation includes, but is not limited to, harassment, discrimination, or any adverse employment action.

5.3 Reporting Retaliation

Any whistleblower who believes they have been subjected to retaliation should report the issue using the same reporting mechanisms outlined above.

6. Investigation Process

6.1 Initial Assessment

Upon receiving a report, ORDC will conduct an initial assessment to determine the seriousness of the concern and decide on the appropriate course of action.

6.2 Investigation

If the concern warrants further investigation, a thorough and impartial investigation will be conducted. The investigation may involve interviews, review of documents, and other relevant actions.

6.3 Outcome

Upon completion of the investigation, findings will be reported to the Orapuh OAB. Corrective actions will be taken if necessary, and the whistleblower will be informed of the outcome, subject to confidentiality constraints.

7. Record Keeping

All reports and investigation outcomes will be documented and securely stored. Records will be maintained perpetually or as deemed appropriate by the OAB.
